Grading Information:
* Major Assessments (Tests and Projects)– 50%
You will be tested after each unit. Your tests will be comprised of reading, writing, and listening activities. You will
also periodically have speaking tests. I will usually give you at least a week notice before each test. Projects may be
assigned periodically throughout the year.
Tests will be worth about 100 total points each.
Test grades will be entered into the gradebook based on the skill they are assessing – Listening, Vocabulary,
Reading, Grammar, Writing, Speaking or Culture. (ex. Unit 1 Test: Listening 10/10, Unit 1 Test: Grammar 8/10, etc.
All sections of the test will add up to about 100 points.)
*Quizzes - 30%
Quizzes and/or Checks for Understanding will occur frequently. They can be either announced or unannounced.
Quizzes will be around 50 points each and grades may be entered in the gradebook similarly to the test grades.
*Daily Assignments – 20%
This category includes homework and class work that may be collected. The purpose of homework and classwork is
for you to practice and for me to see if you understand what is being taught. Point values will vary.

Make Up Work:
Make up work is YOUR responsibility. If you miss a class, check the assignment board or check my website. Check
for handouts in the folders by the door. Make sure to check for work that I collected and tests or quizzes that
were given. If you have any questions about what you missed, ask a classmate or ask me after class. You will have
no more than one week to turn in makeup work or to take any missed tests or quizzes. Check to see what the
school policy is on makeup work.
If you miss the day before a test or quiz and that test or quiz was announced before your absence, you are
responsible for taking that test or quiz on the scheduled day.
Late Work:
It is expected that you complete work on time. In the event that you do not complete a graded assignment,
you will receive a “0” in the gradebook.
Communication about your progress:
Please make sure you and your parents use PowerSchool on a regular basis to keep up with your progress in class. If
you have questions about your grade, please ask me at an appropriate time.
Requirements and Expectations: Since the learning of a foreign language is an ongoing process, attendance and
participation are not only mandatory, but vital to successful learning. Therefore, students should not only attend,
but participate in every class session. I expect you all to be respectful and responsible learners and to abide by
the RCHS rules and policies.
